I am about to start on my first computer build. I have the case which is a Cougar Solution AF-1 and I also have some parts that I want to use out of my current computer to save money for now. The are a ECS GT9400 (Just until I decide to upgrade), DVD RW Drive, Seagate barracuda 1tb, and an x-power 585. I am a college student so I want to be able to run multiple documents and browser windows at the same time. I also want to be able to run iTunes and maybe do a small amount of photo editing. As far as gaming I only play Lol occasionally and maybe Gary's Mod every once and a while. I just want my computer to be fast. I have no interest in overclocking or doing anything special as of right now. I just want something reliable that will last me awhile. I am looking at the fx-6300 for a processor and I am having trouble figuring out what motherboard to get.

Solution
The fx 6300 has very inferior single threaded performance in comparison to the i3. The fx 6300 is also uses a much older chipset and consumes more power giving off a lot of heat.

The ram doesn't matter much especially if not overclocking. Just get the cheapest dual channel (2 sticks of 4 or 2 GB) ram at 1600mhz 1.5v

You might be better off with a Pentium or i3 for what you want to do. That power supply is pretty dreadful and will have to be replaced if you want a graphics card. Will you be overclocking the fx 6300?

This is a good option for the fx 6300. If you want to overclock though you'll need a better cooler like the hyper evo 212

I don't know if you need ram so I included it anyway
