Hello. I would like to be able to record my Windows 7 screen. However, my computer is not powerful enough to use a program such as CamStudio to make a good quality video while running a VM or playing a game. I want to be able to use another device to capture the screen at full 1600x900 resolution, or at least 720p. However, my devices are rather old. I would like to not have to buy a capture module, although I can if required. Anything less than 720p, and ill just get a capture tool. Here are the devices I have to work with:

A Toshiba Satellite. This is the screen I want to capture. It has USB, VGA out, HDMI out, and Ethernet.

An old Dell Dimension Desktop. It has an Intel Celeron at 2.4 GHz and 512 MB with Ethernet and USB. Not sure this will be able to do anything due to the hardware limitations. It currently has Lubuntu, but I can put any OS on it.

A couple Android phones. I need to be able to use an AT&T Fusion 2 if possible, but I do have a Galaxy S4.

An iPad 1st gen.

An HP 2000 laptop. I have highest hopes for this one as it has a Pentium 2.3 GHz, 4 GB Ram and Windows 8. It too however only has Ethernet, USB. All video is output.

To buy an expansion card for the desktop, I might as well just buy the capture tool. Then again, this may be stupid, as i have searched Google and could not find anything relevant.

Thanks;

Hey man, so after reading through I can tell you that I have been in this exact situation before, and I would be happy to help you.

The sad news is, there is no way to record footage from one pc and game on another. Unless, you buy a capture card.

Can you tell me if you have a HDMI compatible monitor, as well as a desktop or laptop that supports HDMI, That is the only way to get capture cards to work with your computer unless you are interested in hearing about the AverMedia Portable, which can capture full hd with just a SD card.

Also with capture cards you CANNOT record 1600x900 only native resolutions 1280x720 and 1920x1080
