Right now I have a Dell XPS 8100 that I bought new in 2010.
I am running an i5 650@3.20GHz
I am looking to upgrade the video card and probably the PSU as well.
I am looking at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EB7UIRS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1ZLB4V3ZGAIP&coliid=I153SU06Q6PEWZ&psc=1
for the new PSU
Also looking at these two options for the video cards
Option #1 http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Version-PCI-Express-Graphics-11220-00-20G/dp/B00I0D81OG/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1412457113&sr=1-1&keywords=r9+270

Option #2 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I6DLIB8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1ZLB4V3ZGAIP&coliid=I28UWV4ZFF1DCU

I am looking for any info I can as to whether or not this system will be compatible with either of these 2 video options and whether or not the new PSU will be needed. I am currently running a Dell 350 watt PSU. Thanks ahead of time for any replies and help.

Thanks Sammy. I knew they were both cheaper elsewhere I just happened to have Amazon opened in a tab so just linked from there to show what I was thinking about. I have seen both used in similar systems but wasnt sure if they would work ok in my particular system. Always best to check.

Hi - Neither of those GPU's requires more than a decent quality 450w PSU (total system), so I'd recommend
saving the $$, getting a good 550w PSU, and invest the $$ saved into a stronger GPU(270x,760,760ti,r9 280).

Some PSU options:
http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/rosewill-power-supply-capstone550m

http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/antec-power-supply-hcg620m

http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/amazon/seasonic-power-supply-ssr550rm

http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/ncixus/xfx-power-supply-p1650xxxb9

All are good quality/semi modular & much less costly than the RM650.
