So I have a Gigabyte UD3 rev 3.0 n I am having the VRM issues with a 8350 that I just picked up for 134.99

So after research I have learned that the heatsink on the VRM heats up n cause's throttling issues,

So I'm debating on going sabertooth or the ASUS Crosshair V Formula

Or should I really spend 500 on a 4790K n a z97 build?

My goals are to run triple monitor setup at medium to high settings

Current system specs are

8350 currently at 4.5 with throttling issues in prime95
ud3 rev3.0 and 8GB of 1866mhz ram
H100i corsair for CPU and H80 for GPU with Kraken
R9 290 @ 1100MHz Core Clock n 1400MHz Mem clock
Samsung 128gb SSD
Corsair 750W PSU

I really am not sure I want to spend the 500+ on a new CPU n Mobo as I have been saving up for a Obotto Racing cockpit with triple screen setup that a friend is gonna sell me

THAT, is up to you. But I'd say the issues you are experiencing would be gone with just a change of motherboard. An 8350 OC to 4.5Ghz will game as well as anything out there pretty much, so long as you have a capable card for your intentions. There are no single GPU cards that I'm aware of that would be bottlenecked by any of the 8 core FX CPUs especially when overclocked to that degree. Most of the gaming performance is in the card at any rate.

As far as the VRM throttling, you will NOT experience that with the Sabertooth so long as you have sufficient case cooling. It's probably beneficial to have an air CPU cooler as it does lend some airflow to that part of the board, even with a tower cooler, but with a premium board and good case...
Go with the Sabertooth. It's a rock solid choice of motherboard, has great characteristics and is cheaper.

Unless you're particular about the color scheme or you see a feature on the Crosshair you want that isn't on the Sabertooth.

I've got the Sabertooth with an 8320@4.5Ghz and zero issues. Prior to that I tried both ASRock and Gigabyte boards and couldn't manage temps adequately nomatter what I did beyond the stock clock.

Of course, they were more budget oriented boards but it doesn't change the fact that it's been smooth sailing on the Sabertooth.

So no need to go Intel?

I'm running a H100i for CPU, and H80 for GPU both in Push/Pull config, 11 fans total in my case so air flow is pretty good I would say.

I just wasn't sure if 300 more to upgrade to the i7 was worth it or not

Thanks!

I was reading about the x99 boards, are these the cpu's that would go with these? cause I've noticed those boards are very pricey, along with DDR4 ram

Real quick, while running prime95 is it normal for is to fluctuate the speed while running 100%

I noticed that it goes from x17.0 to x20.0 a lot n sometimes even 14x.. Thats throttling corrent?

Disable Cool N Quiet in the BIOS. Go into Power options in control panel and set the profile to Performance. Go into the advanced power options for performance profile and make sure that the processor performance minimum state is set to 100%. Normally you shouldn't have to change it, it should already be at 100% for both min and max states, but just make sure. Those two things SHOULD stop the system from adjusting the multiplier.

I already had Cool n Quit disabled in the bios, but I didn't think about performance power setting, Can't believe that actually worked!

I also re enabled HPC in bios

Hmm, Now I am wondering if I should return the sabertooth I just ordered...

I wouldn't. The Sabertooth is a much better board. Sell the other one and keep the Sabertooth. Or build another rig with the other board. And the X99 boards are possibly going to be compatible with some Broadwell processors. Skylake is supposed to be an entirely new socket. I'd just wait and see what they do on that.
