Will my CPU bottleneck a GTX 970?

I am looking to upgrade from a 570 sli setup to a single 970.

I have an i5 2500k, OC'd to 4.3ghz.

Is it worth upgrading, or will my CPU bottleneck this card?

I have 8gb RAM and 850w PSU, so I'm guessing no issues there.

Any help greatly appreciated.

No, it shouldn't bottleneck a 970.

There is little reason to upgrade right now. The only reason to do so would be to get an i7, but the gains aren't big enough if you're just gaming.

If you're thinking of upgrading, Skylake or after would probably be a good time, but it will depend on the performance gain Skylake brings.

I doubt it, there haven't been an major performance increases since Sandy. I'd upgrade the GPU and wait until there is more of a performance gap to upgrade. Ivy was +5-10% and haswell was +5-10%. IMO, not worth the money at this time.

Your CPU should handle a 970 just fine. The only reason to upgrade to an i7 is if you're running an extreme GPU, such as a Titan or the upcoming 980 Ti, or editing a lot of photos and videos.
