So after our ISP changed our exchange & been having slow internet again in the evenings,the ISP says they wont send tech out until we test with another rounter
speed test ->http://www.speedtest.net/result/3685792246.png

So was going to bite the bullet and get a new modem/rounter and see if that makes much difference was thinking of getting an ASUS one and was looking at the
ASUS DSL-N55U -> http://www.asus.com/nz/Networking/DSLN55U_Annex_A/
&
ASUS DSL-AC68U -> http://www.asus.com/nz/Networking/DSLAC68U/

do you think the wireless N rounter is good enough it's like half the price of the ac one, the big differences is ac can do VDSL which we can't get anyway, faster wireless but don't have any ac devices.

or is there some other router out there that blows these out of the water?

Netgear Nighthawk X6. Got mine with a combo deal that came with a free docsis modem. Use that + 3, 8 port switches for all my wired and wireless devices. No lag whatsoever, and all devices that support gigabit throughput (my internet speed) are getting gigabit.

Can't complain. if you've got the $300, get the nighthawk. pretty much the best router.

I would get a seperate modem and router.
This way you can get a decent N now, and upgrade to AC in 2-3 years when it is the standard.

Also, if you ever switch to cable or fiber then you can still use your router; where with a dsl router, it is almost useless if you switch to an ISP that is not DSL

don't know where to buy a separate modem in NZ all the shops i've looked at only have router/modem but your right would be better way to go probably

I probably wont get ac until i get a new pc 5years or so from now & ADSL2 is the only thing available at my current address :p VDSL is currently double the cost anyway so isn't worth it
