Hey guys, this post is assuming windows 7 is the best windows, according to the masses, but correct me if im wrong.

So i just finished building my gaming build after 10 hours of hassle. I realize building a pc on your own saves a little money, but after returning from Target where i saw the only windows available, windows 8.1, for 200$ i thought that i did all the work for nothing and will end up paying even more for my pc than from a store.

This is very expensive so it is tempting o look for alternatives. For educational purposes of course, would it be safe and have the same outcome if one downloaded windows 7 from the internet using youtube guides (they seem credible with thousands of views and likes)? So avoiding the topic of legality, is it as simple as downloading windows onto a usb and then installing the OS?

Thanks, any input is apreciated as i will; not do anything untill someone responded

Avoiding the topic of legality? It is against TH rules to even ask about stolen versions of software. There are other places to buy Windows 8 that wont cost $200. Can get an OEM version from Newegg for $99.

Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 from Newegg. It costs $100 to $120.

1. You cannot avoid the topic of legality. Especially here.

2, A regular Windows license, 7, 8, 8.1...does not cost $200.

3. Downloading an OS from 'the internet', is likely to be preloaded with various malware or trojans, and is guaranteed to be illegal.

To conclude - do not do this.
