What RAM should I buy for ASUS H97-Plus with i7 4790?

I just bought an i7 4790 CPU and an Asus H97-Plus mobo.

I was all set to buy 16gb Trident X 2133mhz but after a bit of Googling I'm not sure if that RAM is right for my cpu/mobo combo.

The ASUS documentation says that "on XMP mode memory modules will run at the maximum transfer rate of 1600mhz." Does that mean there's no point in buying 1833/2133/2400mhz RAM?

There's also the 1.5V issue. Is it right that if I'm not overclocking then the extra V's might damage my CPU? And will the warranty be void?

Wow...that sucks right? Can I get some mega awesome 1600 RAM with really low CL to make up for it? Or should I cancel/upgrade the mobo?

Excellent - I found them for a good price on Amazon. Thanks a lot for the help - sorry for newbie error! After the build is done I may be back to ask how to run them at 1866!

Sorry to pick up this conversation again but I decided to cancel the H97 mobo and go for a Z97 mobo (probably the ASUS Z97-A) so I could get the faster RAM. I think the faster RAM will be sensible for the kind of applications I intend to run.

Your advice was great but money isn't an issue so I didn't want to get something that would limit me over time.

Hopefully it's the right choice!

Will I need the K processor in order to OC the RAM? Am I right in thinking that when you buy 2400mhz ram, you're technically still buying 1600mhz with more headroom to OC?

What if you don't OC the CPU at all? Would you expect the RAM to play nice at 1866 or 2133?
