HELP~! Stuck on initial splash screen: Acer

I turn on my computer like normal and it is stuck at the splash screen ("Acer explore beyong limits"). If I leave it for a while it will say "Preparing Automatic Repair" on the bottom.

I am on an Acer laptop with windows 8.

I have access to the bios and boot menu, but I can't seem to trigger safe mode either.
Any suggestions?

Earlier there used to be a beep every few minutes on that screen, but recently nothing. I just today put in a hard drive from an old laptop since my laptop cannot seem to recognize the old one. As far as I see it can't pick up the latest one either. Any ideas?

I ended up just replacing the hard drive and turns out the HDD just stopped working. Oh well.
