My thermal nightmare

I'll try to make this as short as possible...

I have a AMD FX-8350 and previously under full load it would idle around 30c and max around 59c. I recently decided I might be able to get a little more out of my pc if I replaced the stock thermal compound with something nicer, so I picked up this "Antec Formula 7" and slapped in there. Fast forward - I've tried every method known to man of applying thermal compound in various shapes and sizes and the result is always that the CPU now idles around 50-55c and will shoot up to 70c+ (and keeps going! which then triggers my mobos thermal alarm) within seconds of performing a rendering task within 3d studio max. I never had this problem previous to using this Antec product, however there is one other thing I noticed, that my fan speed is always around 3000rpm when the cpu is idle and under load only rises to 3500rpm. I believe this fan has an operational range of roughly 1000-6000 RPM but is not reacting the way it should or used to.

I must admit that when I removed the heatsink from the board the first time, that the cpu came out with it... However the CPU does not seem to have any physical damage to it, and I am typing this on that computer right now as we speak.

Does this sound like a problem with the CPU, the Motherboard, the HS/Fan, or the Thermal Compound?

Thanks so much to everyone for reading & responding (in advance)!

I've used the Pea and Rice methods, the Line method, the X method, the spread method. etc. I honestly don't think that the thermal compound, in terms of how I have applied it, is the issue... is it possible that I got a bad batch of this stuff? Mind you that I was the person who built this computer in the first place and it was running wonderfully.

If the CPU came out along with the cooler. That is very bad. It sounds like you bought a thermal adhesive (Though I don't think Antec Formula 7 is a thermal adhesive. I'd say clean your CPU and get a better cooler

Doesn't help. Just shows your cooler isn't working properly. Re-seat it. Make sure its actually sitting on the CPU flat. Make sure you wipe off the old thermal paste completely with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Use new Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste. Google how to do it. Do it thoroughly and carefully.

I feel like the thermal paste is the only answer here. The chip is the same chip as before, the cooler is the same as before, the board is the same as before, the only difference is the thermal paste and I get the same result no matter how its applied. I will be calling antec to let them know that I may have a possible bad batch of the paste and I will be trying a new paste asap.
