Hey!
I have finally decided to upgrade as my faithful ~7 y.o. PC's motherboard died.
I will be using the pc for some light gaming, some photoshop, and programming(my first year in university studying computer science)

I can't decide between
AMD fx8320 (218$) + MSI 970A-G43(99$) + 2x 4gb geilValue ram 1600mhz(100$) = 418$
OR
Intel I5 4460 (237,82$) + ASUS B85M-G(95$) + 2x 4gb geilValue ram 1600mhz(100$) = 432$

I know the prices look crazy high to you but thats how much pc components cost here :(

Also I tend to use my pc for as long as possible with minimal upgrades hence why i kept my c2d e6550 for 7 years :D . So which will be more future proof?

I'll also upgrade to something like 750ti or r7 265 in a month or so.

From my old pc I will keep using:
PSU: asus atx-500h 500W
HDD: 2TB Western digital + 500 gb seagate
Videocard: 9600gt

Don do this : AMD fx8320 . + MSI 970A-G43. . This mobo along with FX 8320 will melt down !

i5 4460 is better than fx 8320.

and if you go with i5 4460 then you will need a H97 motherboard.

for future proofing you can get this.

depends on the gaming you are doing, in general the fx is good for video editing and apps that can utilize all of the cores, if it cannot it will fall way behind anything you can get from intel, the power consumption will be huge aswell and you need a really good mobo i would suggest only 8 phase vrms ones for 8 core chips, if you are playing mmo's or rts's forget the fx, also with that fx you will have absolutely no upgrade path for future, you will need a new mobo and cpu, while with intel you can go to something like 4790k, your best bet is to go with the suggested system above

The core i5 is better for games and any application that largely uses less than four cores.
Some applications that can make use of all 8 cores on the FX can come out ahead on this.
I would choose the Core i5.

A motherboard with the B85 chipset requires a BIOS update to support this CPU.
I have read you can maybe do this by booting off a usb device but it seems like it will cause you trouble.
You could get the slightly older Core i5-4440, 4570 or 4670 and keep this motherboard.
Alternatively, you could get a H97 motherboard with the Core i5-4460.

Wow so many answers in a matter of a few minutes ^^
Thanks for your input everyone. You guys are awsome :)

I used to think that 8320 would be more future proof(as ps4 and xbone have amd 8cores aswel).
But if you'all suggest that i5 is better then I'll go with I5.

The hardware shop that provides somewhat reasonable prices for intel cpus and mobos has a very limited selection.
Available CPUs:
http://www.led.am/en/products/category/cpucorei5.html
I figured that the 4460 seems to be the best from that list

1150 socket mobos:
http://www.led.am/en/products/category/mb1150.html

The B85 wont run the 4460 then? or just needs a bios upgrade?
The price difference between ASUS b85 and ASUS H87M-E is 20$. Idk if its worth it

Also should i put more money in order to get a Kingston ram instead of that GeilValue?

EDIT: I'll play some CS:GO, FIFA, and cod4 leagues. My old pc used to handle all this just fine so i guess either of the new Hardware will.

I have made a final decision to stick with i5, in particulary i5 4460.
From the available motherboards i posted above it seems that only 2 are directly compatible with 4460

ASUS maximus VII z97 which costs more then the cpu itself -.- (it stomps my whole budget)
and
Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H which fits nicely in my budget. According to their website.

Am I correct that the Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H won't need any bios upgrade? And will it handle the 4460 alright?
Updating is an issue for me cause i do not have any 1150 cpu and it simply wont be able to boot to be able to update :(

Alright thanks everyone for your input an pointing me to the right direction.
I'll just go with the gigabyte board especially as it is a bit cheaper then the asus one.
If it wont boot ill just take it to a pc service center and ask them to update it.

Have a nice day :)
