hello!

my laptop stopped connecting to the home wifi after the power went off, but my iphone and ipad have no problem. i had this problem before with my laptop but managed to fix it with a driver reinstall, but this time no matter what i do it just refuses to connect. i know android has wifi tethering through usb, but i lack an android phone.

is there a way to make my laptop s network card "forget" the wifi home connection, so that i could try and connect to it like it s the first time? or is there a way to reset the newtwork card?

also, i saw in another thread that someone suggested using an "usb wifi dongle". could someone explain to me pls what exactly is that thing and if it could resolve my situation?

just head on to networks and sharing center< Manage wireless networks on the left side bar at top,

then find your home wifi and remove it. :wahoo:

This happens to my crap router all the time. Unplug it and hold the reset button for like 10 seconds. Plug it back in and try to reconnect

did this already ... unpluged, reseted ... everything. nothing works:( ( i still think it s a network card problem. it "memorised" the home wifi with this problem:(

will using an usb wifi work? do i have to disable the laptop s network card before plugging the usb?

Yes you can use a usb wifi card, no you don't need to uninstall your laptop network card

If the network card isn't the problem, it means your firewall or provider is crap, and that a usb wifi card won't do anything for you

the network card and the internet provider are fine ... i think there s an incompatibility between the card and the wifi modem:(  i don t have a firewall

i hope that the usb wifi will not have a problem connecting to the wifi modem ... i just don t understand how can i install an usb wifi without disabling the laptop s network card? won t they interfere with each other?

The usb will act as an external network card, your computer only uses one at a time unless you do something to force it to use two
