Working on my first build. When I start up the computer with both of my 8gig RAM sticks installed it starts and shuts off within a matter of seconds. It continues this cycle until i disconnect the power. When I remove either 1 of the sticks it boots right up no problem. Both sticks work individually and I have used every DIMM slot available and had it work so nothing is fried. Where am I going wrong and what do I need to to do to remedy this situation?

+1 to Vic, all it should be is the sticks in 1-3 or 2-4 from CPU, enable XMP select the 1600 profile and go - if problems persist, make sure you have the latest BIOS, also a possible, if CPU cooler is too tight in a corner or a side it can affect the MC (memory controller, so might loosen the CPU cooler then snug it back down, not overly tight

Ok. So I messed with the XMP settings and after I lowered the DRAM Frequency from 1600MHz to 800MHz it allowed me to install the second stick of RAM and boom. She started up. Unfortunately shortly after reaching the desktop it abruptly shut off. How does one find out the appropriate XMP settings for their system?

Motherboard: Asus Z97-A
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB 1600 MHz

I don't believe there to be a compatibility issue but I may have overlooked something.

Under Ai Overclock Tuner I have 3 options: XMP, Manual, and Auto. I have had it set to XMP and the problem persists.
