I recently bought an Acer XC-605. It's a slim form factor desktop PC. I picked it up at a bargain price from an office that was having a clear out.

The PSU fan seems to be really loud...making a distinct whirring noise as it spins faster and then slows down and does this constantly...is there anyway I can replace with a quieter one?

Because it's a very small case the current PSU is a very specific size and shape...it measures 90mm wide x 53mm tall x 200mm long. Its model number is FSP220-50SBV. Picture below...

Any idea what I can do about the noise issue?

thanks!

The form factor of the PSU is "SFX" as opposed to the more common "ATX", so any SFX spec PSU should fit.

It sounds like there is a loose wire in there that the fan is hitting. Try opening the PSU to check if anything is touching the fan. If nothing try cleaning the fan with a vacuum cleaner. Be very careful with the vacuum cleaner and watch out for static. If nothing works buy a new fan with the same size.
