Hi there
I have an Cooler Master 280l water cooler an the copper block that goes on the cpu has green tarnish on it. Is that normal? When I got it I didnt care, but after 3 weeks of installing it I tought to my self WTF!?!? What should I do?

Solution
Its copper, thats what happens when copper oxidizes. Take a bit of vinegar to it and it will clean right off, just like cleaning a penny!

The inside of the cooler will be sealed off which will greatly limit the reaction rate and the corrosion should still conduct heat quite well so the inside of the cooler isn't at high risk.

It could be a mold like algae maybe if you have some small leaks but as long as you can get most of it off or at least still put thermal paste on the cpu I think you should be fine.

I have seen enough tarnished wires and statues to know its not mold. And it seems like it goes in a little crack. It doesnt cover the cpu area but im afraid the fins inside the plate which are used for making the bigger contact surface with the liquid are ruined.
