This problem only started recently, two or three days ago. My computer functions perfectly, no errors or anything in Windows or otherwise. It shuts down when told to, and boots up again as asked. However, when I use the Restart function of Windows 7, my computer shuts down, then when booting up, it refuses to boot into Windows.

It will show the Asus ROG logo for a moment (nothing different there), but when it starts Windows, it shows the animation for a little less than a second before a blue screen. Only, the blue screen doesn't stay, it disappears fast enough that there's no hope of reading anything on it. Then the computer will 'restart' again, and present the option for Windows Startup Repair.

From this point, if I choose "Start Windows Normally," it repeats the process stated above. If I choose "Launch Startup Repair," it will load the files, and the progress bar will fill completely. Then the screen turns to black for a moment or two, before displaying a blue screen, which doesn't disappear this time.

And yet, even after this, if I shut down the computer (using the power button), then just turn it back on again, Windows boots normally and there's nothing abnormal about the boot process or how Windows runs.

That said, what could be causing this problem..? Parts listed below.

check if there are any mini-dump file. they should be located in the C:\Windows\Minidump\ folder.

or look for the file Memory.dmp

There's one file there, but from September 18.

you could try the following:

reboot
hit F8 as if you want to get into SafeMode
choose Enable Boot Logging (it will create a file that tells you at what point/driver it failed)
once back in Windows you can check out the file and hopefully it will narrow down the issue
