OK, so im pretty close to finishing up my pc build and its also my first build. At first i attempted to turn on my pc with just the motherboard, hdd, cpu, ram and well everything except the gpu. Luckily, everything turned on, the fans turned on and lit up fine. After i put in my graphics card and the pci-e connecters the graphics card lights up green which tells me that the pci-e is working, however the pc wont turn on. So then i tried using the integrated graphics and just connect an hdmi from my mobo to the monitor, once again it wont turn on. So it seems anything related to video is not working. Does anyone know why, or a certain cable i should be looking for thats not plugged in right?

Also: My wattage is alright im using 630watts and my graphics card does work (tried it on friends pc) and my monitor also works on my friends pc.
THANKS!!

When you say it "wont turn on" - does this mean that there is no power or that you aren't getting anything to the monitor?

Most mobos with onboard graphics require that you install the GPU, then change the priority of the GPU to be PCI vs. onboard graphics, then save and reboot (at that point, you can change your monitor connection to the GPU).

i dont really know, the graphics card seems to turn on but nothing else does, so no power after installing the gpu

Is your 20 / 24 Pin ATX connector securely attached to the Motherboard (those can occasionally sit at a very slight angle - had that problem twice on my last build)?

Does the PC turn on when no monitor is connected? I know you've said it does. I mean after monitors are attached.

Post your system's specifications to rule out a PSU issue and to get a clearer picture of where a problem might lie.

Right im using an asrock z97 mobo, raidmax 630w psu, i5 4690k, radeon r9 280, 8gb corsair vengeance ram,
oh and yes the pc works until i throw in the graphics or even hdmi the monitor to mobo
what i mean by works is fans light up and turn on, cpu fan turns on, psu lights up

I phrased my last question badly.

Does the PC turn on when no monitor is connected? I know you've said it does. I mean after the monitor has been attached and then removed.

Are your 8-Pin CPU Power Connector and 20 / 24 Pin Motherboard ATX Power Connector both securely attached to their ports?

so what ive tried to do is use the onboard graphics and connect the hdmi to mobo
the pc successfuly turns on but my monitor says hdmi no signal, when the hdmi is clearly running through the motherboard and the monitor, im doing something wrong because it should be working with the onboard graphics of the cpu

yes, the pc turns on without a monitor connected and with a monitor connected, i can freely remove and attach monitor and pc continues running, the 12volt and 24 pin are both securly connected supplying power
and im using only one 4 pin not both because my power supply is only supposed to use one of the 4pin i guess(they come detached from eachother)

"...im using only one 4 pin not both because my power supply is only supposed to use one of the 4pin i guess(they come detached from eachother)."

You should be using an 8-Pin CPU Power connector. That's an 8-Pin 12V connector running from your Power Supply Unit to the port close to the CPU Socket on your Motherboard.

Have you connected a 4-Pin connector to this socket?

What brand and model of PSU are you using?

im using a raidmax 630wss power supply, and i thought it was wierd since the 4 pin connecters are different but i went on youtube and everyone else with this psu was only using one of the 4pins. i cant plug in the other 4pin because its not compatible
