I just now realised, 1,5 years into using my gaming pc that my psu is of really bad quality (everyone says so).I didn't know cause my friend built it for me, I dont really know much about power supplies anyway...I've heard a psu can damage other components if it fails, but could it be possible that it's damaging them over time or something? Also , the psu has been making strange buzzing noises constantly...
My specs:
i5-3570
gigabyte r9 270x
kingston 8gb
psu: cooler master 500w
came with this case: http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/elite-371/
I'm really worried, I dont have the money to buy a new psu right now....

The truth about PSU's is that they can damage componets when they fail, and even during normal operation if the power the provide is not clean. As for the buzzing, sometimes that can mean the supply is under heavy load or that its getting older. If I where you, I would graduate to a bit larger of a psu with those comonents, maybe like 700 watts. Cooler master is usually a somewhat trusted name among the computer components they make, so I wouldn't be too worried as of how clean the power is. Just keep in mind your psu could use an upgrade to a unit with more headroom.
