I want to stream DotA2 .

This guy is streaming DotA2 and getting the same performance that I wish to get out of my PC so I decided to base my GPU purchase on the GPU he uses.

what GPU give the same or slightly better performance then the GeForce GTX 680 2GB?

Do you think a GTX 660 2GB will give the same performance in DotA2 ?

With good RAM and CPU does streaming even effect the GPU in game performance ?

The GPU requirements of DOTA2 are almost nonexistent. You can run it on recommended settings with an 8600GTS, which is quite old. Your CPU is going to be the most important factor in streaming (besides your internet connection).

Yes your RAM and CPU will affect game performance. If you want a comparable card get a GTX 770 or the 680 itself. However the GPU alone will not guarantee the same performance of that streamer.

Also you have to take into account the video recording software and tools which also affect performance.

The GTX 660 is obviously no match for the 680.

dota2? you can run that even on an apu. for streaming - more cores is better - its one of the very few things that an 8 core fx can do better than an i5 (aside from being better at getting really hot).

The 280 or 280x would be good choices.

If you want to spend a bit more, the 970's are amazing cards. They're around the same price as 770's, but perform as well as 780's.

The R9 280X performs at the same level as the GTX 770 and 680. If you don't mind spending a bit more the new GTX 970 is worth the money.

The GTX 700 series and later cards have the Nvidia Shadowplay feature which may or may not be advantageous in video recording/streaming. So you may want to stick with an Nvidia card. I can't give you a definite answer because I've never owned a GTX 700+ series card to try out Shadowplay.
