3 pin fans in PWM splitter box?

Solution
PWM splitters(unless they have more elaborate hardware) get 12 volts off the power supply(to avoid overloading the board header) and thus a 3 pin fan will run FULL speed all the time. The only actually split the PWM wire(4th wire).

PWM fans run on 12 volts all the time and the PWM signal controls the speed.
3 pin fans control by changing the voltage the fan gets.
Both fan types report the speed via the 3rd wire. With a splitter, only one fan will report speed to the board.
