On smite I get 100+ fps on high settings (windows 7)

After i upgraded to windows 8.1, i have 40-60 fps...

I even updated my drivers for windows 8.1 and used windows update to get everything.

What could be the problem?

8.1 usually has problems with games that are old and can cause a loss in fps. I would only worry if it drops lower than 30 unless you are a serious gamer who always wants the max fps in which case only worry if it drops below 60 as anything more will be unnoticeable.

If that's an older program then windows 8.1 likely isn't playing as nice with it as windows 7 does. I have a number of games that won't run on windows 8.1 that did on windows 7 so it wouldn't be shocking if it did something like that.
