I seem to be having a series of misfortune lately. Today I played black ops 2 for a couple matches before rage quiting. Anyways, afterword I pinned a couple things to my task bar and then put my computer in sleep mode. I left the room for about 2 minutes and when I came back I smelled something that smelled like a burning resistor or capacitor, immediately my eyes went to my pc out of fear and I saw a little bit of smoke coming up out of the top of my pc and the blinking light indicating sleep was no longer blinking. I immediately unplugged my computer and took the side off. I saw nothing out of the ordinary, no burns or warping or anything. I plugged it in again to check if I could see smoke real fast and I saw it, coming from my gpu. Next thing I know sparks were shooting out of the back of my power supply. I already got a psu replacement and will have to wait a few weeks for a gpu. So what happened??

Things get old, your power supply probably died and the poor voltage regulation caused your card to have issues as well, cheap powers supply can be fairly dangerous when they fail becuase they throw out all kind of nasty voltages as they fail, causeing it to destroy other components with it aswell.

Well it was a crappy 700 watt kiotek -_- I fear that it may have killed everything though I hope not. But I had just gotten it 2 days ago. My gpu is pretty old. Gtx 560.

Yea, the first few days with a new psu are pretty dangerous, you don't know if its going to fail or not. Thats usually when they do, the first couple days.
