I've been trying to install four new sticks of 1GB ram in my Compaq Presario SR1430NX. It currently has two 206MB sticks in. I switched the two that are already installed to the number 1 and 3 slots and put in two new ones into the 2 and 4 slots. It displays this colorful type of static. I really don't know what it's doing but when I take the new ones out, it runs perfectly fine.

Does anyone know what's happening or how to fix it?

Try removing the old RAM and using only the new RAM.

What is the make/model of the RAM.

When only the new is in, there is no output. The sticks are all ddrII 400MHz PC3200 1GB made by Elpida.

Install only the new RAM and then reset the CMOS by pulling the battery for 15 seconds and then putting it back.

For all intents and purposes, your RAM might be dead or just incompatible with the motherboard.

I rechecked the bus speed on the new sticks. It's PC3200 and my old ones are PC2-3200. The company I ordered them from sent me the wrong sticks. Thanks for the help, anyway.
