So I have a computer that I built for my computer. It has amd a10-6800k with Asrock fm2a88m-hd+
it has 8gb of 2133mhz. I installed with stock cooler and arctic silver but it idles around 50+ degree celcius. When I turn on a game such as Sims or Dota 2, it jumps up to 100 degree cecius. The computer shuts down itself after 10-15 minutes into gaming.

I have a similar build that i built for my father and his a10 idles around 50 degree celcius so i'm thinking that a10 itself is very easily heated up. But for him he does not game or anything so it is perfectly fine.

My question is that will investing $30 to buy an Cooler Master T4 CPU cooler fix this issue? or is it just faulty cpu or bad mobo?

Solution
No the T4 would make it cooler in most cases but will not stop it from turning it off... your problem is that your cpu isn't reading the temps properly and making it shut off.. (your real cpu temp could be 50c but its reading as 80c) I'd recommend just finding a way to return it... or at least replace it... contact where you got the CPU and say it isn't working as it should and explain to them your situation :)

Are you sure the heatsink is on there properly? How did you apply the thermal compound? (Make sure it is a pea-sized dot in the middle of the CPU) also its worth it for the price but the stock heatsink should do you fine...

Best bet would be that you didn't install it properly... take it off, take off the thermal compound with some rubbing alcohol and coffee filters, apply some new compound and make sure to put it on properly after :)

I checked the fans and everything is working fine. The heat sink is rotating continuously around 2000 rpm it even jumps up to like 3000 when it gets hotter. I reapplied thermal paste couple of times but still the same. I used a pea size amount of arctic silver and spread it thinly with an card.

It could be a faulty CPU.... If you are sure you applied everything properly it is probably the CPU not reading the thermals properly and causing itself to throttle or just fully shutdown. There are multiple threads about their CPU not reading temps properly and causing itself to shutdown. What I would do is to invest on a t4 or a 212+ if you have some spare change but if not just return it :)

Its been awhile since the purchase so i don't think I will be able to return it. Will the T4 solve the issue even if it is the cpu not reading the temps correctly? is there a way to check if its the cpu error?
by the Thanks for quick answers.
