hi guys quick question for gaming. I have a Dell u 3011 30 inch monitor. It runs at 2560 X 1600 resolution. I currently have it connected with a HDMI cable, and I'm getting picture and everything and things *seem fine* but some sites I have looked at suggest I should be using a DisplayPort cable because it will either look or function better and would give me colors/resolution maybe I'm missing out on because I"m dense. My video card is a Geforce GTX 980. Before I go out and buy a DisplayPort male to male cable I wanted to ask the experts and see whether this is something I should do.!

Solution
There won't be a difference. DisplayPort cables won't give any other advantage to that screen. Only advantage for those cables is for 60Hz @ 4k and 120/144Hz for gaming monitors.

DSR doesn't mean it's trying to force that resolution, it's simply rendering at that resolution internally before scaling it down automatically to your currently selected screen resolution. It doesn't incur any additional hardware requirements on the output side of things.
