The CPU_FAN has a water pump plugged in
CPU_OPT and all sys fans have JetFlo 120ms plugged in.

When resuming from sleep in Windows 8.1, most times, CPU_OPT will not spin up, forcing a reboot.

Anyone else have this problem or have seen it?

Board is a z97x-gaming 3.

Do you use the cpu-opt header for the case fan?, If you did, and don't use it and use other header, or use the Y splitter http://images17.newegg.com/is/image/newegg/12-162-026-T... in other header if you have more fans, because the PC thinks something wrong with that fan header, the temp is not right.

The odd thing is, sometimes it does come back on when resuming from sleep.

CPU_OPT is for my water pump radiator, so to me it makes sense. In fact, the motherboard specifically states this is what it is for, a water cooled CPU solution: CPU_FAN for the water pump, CPU_OPT for the radiator fan.

I'm wondering if I should get a regular 3-pin fan on the CPU_OPT instead of the 4pin fan?

I saw a post on the Intel forums (https://communities.intel.com/thread/43221?start=15&tst...) where Intel specifically stated this was a bug in their boards BIOS. And they issued a fix. I wonder if this Gigabyte board has a bug in the latest BIOS (F5) I'm using?

Sorry , I don't know.

You maybe try set the fan speed setting for the cpu-opt in the BIOS, like maunual. Or try use the sys-fan header.
