So my brother flashed my reference XFX r9 290 with a r9 290x bios and now i cannot get a display from the card anymore, at least not to display in windows, it does still show the bios. I tried formatting my pc over again and it worked fine, but as soon as i installed the amd drivers the screen goes black during the driver installation and then doesn't work again. i found an xfx bios for the r9 290 online and re-flashed it back to the card but the problem still persists.
anyone know of a solution, or is my card is about finished? and will XFX take back a card with a bad bios flash?

i used this tutorial to reflash the r9 290 bios back to the stock bios i found.

I would try reverting to a 290 bios again if you can, otherwise it sounds like you have bricked it :(

will any r9 290 bios work, or do i need one that matches my specific brand (XFX) and make (reference)?
i didn't want to just randomly start flashing bios's onto it making the problem worse.

by the sounds of it, it cant get worse...

No im not sure, I would use one from the same brand/model to be safe though.

i tried multiple bioses and the problem still persists, guess it is bricked, thats $350 down the drain

As a last option, I would try RMA'ing it back to the manufacturer, dont mention anything about bios flashing.
