Hello,
I am having trouble accessing a Lenovo laptop's hard drive which was running Windows 8.1.
Issue: The whole laptop was running slowly for one to two days with a few blue screens of death after restarts with the error "Bad_System_Config_Info". A few attempts later I booted into the desktop and ran sfc /scannow and all three DISM commands (which were successful), but after attempting to restart to perform a chkdsk /r the laptop would get hung up at something like "Scanning and repairing: 10%". After a few hours of it being stuck at 10% I pressed and held the power button and rebooted to find the same thing happen. The third time I rebooted and the pressed the 'novo' button, but instead of the bios/boot menu options appearing the Lenovo icon appeared and nothing else (no 'spinny' disk to indicate action). I have taken the HDD out of the laptop and attached it to a desktop which did not recognize it. The only time Windows 7 would recognize it would be after I disconnect the drive it would say something like: "you need to format this drive in order for it to work." Running a Recuva scan has proved ineffective thus far.
Preferably I won't have to format the hard drive, but if need be I shall.
Please help.

Thank you for the reply.
How do you propose I run the diagnostic from the HDD manufacturer? Windows 7 does not recognize the drive when it is connected (on a separate machine) and the laptop will not boot past the initial Lenovo Icon with the HDD connected. The hard drive in question is the Samsung Spinpoint M8 1 TB model. Running SeaTools from Windows 7 was unable to detect the hard drive in question (expected).
