i was wondering if adding another monitor would lower my fps in games. I am planning on using my second monitor just for things like twitch, internet browsing. can anyone tell me if adding the dual monitor will lower my fps even if im playing a game on one screen?
my set up
gpu: gtx760 2gb
cpu: 8350 amd fx
power supply : 650w

Hi alexbeast,

If there are two monitors (one for gaming and other for normal usage), there will be FPS drop but to a miniscule range because GPU renders both. I was reading this thread to provide an appropriate answer for your question: http://www.overclock.net/t/1177166/dual-monitor-lower-fps-in-game/10 . Don't forget to read the posts (especially the last one) in that forum as it could be helpful for you in the future.

You would see about a 2-7 fps decrease if you ran 2 monitor, but 2 monitors on your build should be just fine. The Gtx 760 has enough power to run 3 1080p monitors just fine on high settings in games so I don't see why 2 monitors would kill your computer.

Hey I have a 980 GTX TI and I'm getting crazy fps drops on my dual monitor setup (from 300 FPS to like 20-45 FPS on CS:GO)
