I just built a new desktop and I installed Windows-7 on a 128GB SSD and everything runs fine except it wont active and puts a different code then what I entered (Example the last 5. My Code:"PRXD2", but it changes it to 85728).

Fails to activate and get the code "0xC004C008" and Description is as follows "The Activation server determined that the specified product key could not be used."

Ive tried "But a New Product Key Online" and it just takes me to validate genuine windows.

It is a real key, I've used it on 3 different computers (Not at the same time), I was just using it on my last build.
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev.4
AMD FX-8350 Black Edition @4Ghz
CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i CPU Cooler
CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB @1866
SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X R9 290
CORSAIR 850W PSU
2 x SSDs / 2 x HDDs / 1 x BD Player

NOTE: I cannot access my BIOS for an unkown reason (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2323430/gigabyte...)

what kind of license key you using (and don't say "windows 7")..
I mean is it OEM or retail or .upgrade or.. What?
My guess is that's its an OEM .. which means you can use in on ONE PC..
you have changed MOBO.. so it considered a different PC and so will not activate.
Or its a shared key.. and MS have just locked it down.

That's jus a guess.. tell us what Licence you have.. and we can may be give a more accurate assessment.

Cheers

Try doing the activation over the phone: http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/950929

If you are still on the installation - skip the activation part and go directly to Windows - it will give you 30 days to activate Windows (I do this on all of my installs). If the key has a problem - I use the article to activate over the phone.

If full retail, contact Microsoft. They've been very good to me over my various builds and moves - they seem to assume legitimate use unless they have reason to believe otherwise.

I'm going to guess OEM (Got it for a promotion deal where you threw a Win7 "party") (Win7 Ultimate Signature Edition)
Technically this is the 3rd Mobo I ive used it on.
Imma try the link provided and ill update.

That Worked like a charm! Thanks!
Still not sure why the Product Code is different from the one I have and what is shown on the computer but I don't care as long as it works!
