right now i own a dl 524 d link and it doesn;t do the job , im getting lag spikes on gaming

Have you tried hooking your computer directly to your cable modem to see how it works? I would do that first.

BTW i am asking you these questions because its possible the speed of the internet is slow to begin with , which if that is the case a new router wont do any good.
