My CPU used to run at about 30-40% while running bf4; I cleaned my computer and now it takes up 80-100% of my cpu, to the point that it's slowing down now. What's with this acute problem. Could it be the temperature (maybe the thermal glue)?

Just bringing up task manager makes it skyrocket to 80%.

It's a 3570k i5 overclocked to 4 GHz

Temp on my CPU is 30C so it's not that

By cleaning you mean air compressor? Its quite possible that the air pressure can cause a poorly install cooler to become tilted and cool the cores unevenly. You should try out a more specific software to see the temp of each individual core and see if I'm right.

You could have also busted a capacitor or anything of a kind.

Thanks for the response

I took the Evo off before I cleaned it. I also took apart my video card and cleaned that. I was, and am always very careful, I doubt I broke anything. The Evo is a bit difficult to connect, so it's possible it's on unevenly, and I didn't wipe the old thermal glue off first, but like I said, the CPU is running at 30C so it doesn't seem to be temperature (besides, would temperature really affect usage?).

No, usage affects temperature, not the other way around. There is also one thing that my cousin did on his i7 laptop, maybe it might work with you. Apparent there was a registry problem that caused his pc to overheat all the time and he fixed that using a registry mechanic software, after that there were no problems.

Possible causes malware rootkit like ZeroAcess,Rbot, would raise the usage on running threads try Roguekiller, adwcleaner,JRT from bleeping computer then run CCLeaner run cleaner and then registry repair.
