Sound will work great, then all of a sudden, it'll stop working for all applications except (oddly) teamspeak. It's the only one that works continuously (Yes teamspeak is set to the soundcard. It's where I have my headset plugged into, directly). If I open the Playback Devices and right click > Test, it'll give me an error stating that it failed to run the test. No numbers. Nothing else. And just as randomly as it goes out, it'll return and work fine, until it goes out again.
I just recently reformatted my computer and went from Win 7 (everything worked wonderfully) to Win 8.1, complete clean out and fresh install. I did disable Azaila (Or however you spell it) but that didn't solve the issue. I also disabled fast start up and that did not help. I uninstalled and reinstalled the SB driver several times to no avail.
I don't know what pc specs you may be interested in getting but I have:
Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 mobo
8350 AMD FX 8 core processor
Kingston SSD 120gb
Vapor X graphics card
Any ideas guys?!

If you want to disable the onboard card, it is best to do it in the bios.

Does the software's own build in speaker test work at all? Can you swap modes from entertainment to game and back with NO programs running.

Early drivers did have an issue with loosing sound and strangely enough placing the computer in sleep and waking it would fix the problem.

Yeah I did disable the onboard via the bios. And the software for the card doesn't have a speaker test other than the listen function for the microphone. (for some reason, the creative console isn't apart of this card/driver.) And yeah I can swap those modes. I usually keep it on Game though.
When you say fix the issue, do you mean permanently or just for that bit of time? I think once, I disabled it in the Playback devices and then re-enabled it and it work for a little bit then went out again. It's so random. Like I said, TeamSpeak never stops working. And sometime when the sound goes out in other areas, closing and reopening my browser or game or whatever fixes the issue but that still doesn't explain why the "Test" in Playback devices would fail. Also, I'm pretty sure it's a software issue because 1. it worked fine in Win 7 and 2. If there is sound playing (youtube music video for instance) watching the sound bar in the playback devices when the issue is occurring, there is nothing happening, as though there is no sound. I figured if it was a problem with my headset, cables, or even the ports in the card, the little bar would be lighting up, but it's not. Maybe I'm getting the wrong driver? I don't know. I've checked and rechecked several times on the driver but same thing each time!

This is kind of strange, but I have seen lots of users with similar issues. I know when I was running Windows 8 with a similar card once I got it working, it kept working after.

When I had a similar issue, the sound tests still "worked", but without actually playing sound(it did play on my headphones when connected to the front port.).

I always installed the CD drivers and then the updates after
