I am having some major problems with my laptop so I am trying to reset it. when I try to reset back to factory settings from the recovery menu it does nothing just says preparing and nothing else. I waited an hour. When I tried using media option it let me and acted like it was going to do it and then a menu came up asking what keyboard layout I wanted and after choosing went back to the menu to let me choose what method I wanted to do the reset and just kept repeating itself. If I choose the reset option from that menu it then tells me I have a partian missing. I do not know what to do.

Do you have a Windows installation disc or flash drive? And who is the manufacturer of the laptop?

Did you originally install Windows 8 - then update to Windows 8.1? There is a known issue with the reset function when you update to 8.1 from 8.
