i just upgrade my ati 6870 to gtx 970 and all my game have fps drops like crazy anyone know whats teh problem is this is it hte driver ? i am on asus p8p67 pro with i5 2500k

You did install the Nvidia driver, and uninstall the ATI driver right?

^Rockie_ , he shouldnt have to do that. My laptop with a GT 745M can run both of these games maxed out.

guys, I have the EXACT same problem, I have just upgraded from an ATI 6870 to a MSI 970. Completely removed the Ati drivers with display driver uninstaller. Installed the latest Nvidia drivers and the gpu runs fine, that is, until I experience huge lag spikes no matter what game I run. At some point I experience intermittent lag spikes, where the fps cuts in half or drops even further.

Did you look in NVidia Control panel , if the driver overrides the settings - Antialiasing , Anisotropic filtering ? My driver does it and i set them to application controlled . Remove Geforce Experience and try again ! Also , update the motherboard driver .

I have set the option to 'application controlled' where applicable, removed Geforce experience and updated to the latest BIOS a few days back, before I bought the card. Still having issues

An AMD FX 8350, although MSI afterburner shows no huge CPU spikes when the lag occurs, it does show the core clock and memory clock for the GPU dropping though,

oh yeah finally fixed it b/c my card is running at x1 on a saving mode thats why i change it back to x16 and everything works perfect

Im having same problem, how do you change to x16? I have 2 gtx 970's running in SLI and still have the problem.
