DDR3 or DDR4?

Well of course ddr3 is 'fine'. But that's not necessarily to say buying DDR4 doesn't warrant getting a new mobo and cpu. Current available X99 mobos are awesome, and the 5820k is really great compared to the 4770k(+) especially if you're going to have a video card in your desktop.

Actually the DDR3 at equivalent freqs, i.e. 2133 DDR3 vs 2133 DDR, is going to run faster due to the higher CLs in place on DDR4, once DDR4 get's some DRAM out with tighter timings it will improve performance wise. Big reason for people moving to th 2011-V3 at the moment is the new CPUs

The pc i'm building will definitely be a gaming pc with oc's on ram and cpu. The question i'm wondering is has their been any extensive testing already on the new x99 mobo's for overclocking are there any issues with the tims? Would the broadwell chips be on the x99 interface or is it just for devil's canyon?

Broadwell will be compatible with the Z97 1150 boards a far as I know. Broadwell is pretty much a lost cause anyway as Skylake will be released in the same year with even more improvements (DDR4, PCIe 4.0 etc...).

Yea it seems like the smart thing to do is wait until better ram is out. DDR4 is supposed to be significantly higher lower voltage, plus it's supposed to work better with multi core cpu's etc. The question remains would their be a noticeable/quantifiable difference

@powerpie5000 Yeah that was another thing i was wondering, Do you have any links to sites that show what the improvements are from skylake all i've seemed to find is just the die size and thats about it. I know skylake is going to be amazing also it being a new tick and everything i just don't know enough information about it also i don't know if this is a bug or not but for some reason i can't reply to answers sometimes or quote reply is it because a message was sent recently and the servers haven't sent back the sufficient data or you have to be of a certain level to reply?
