This is my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JTmh23

For some reason the cable that comes out of the case and says "HD AUDIO" on it only goes into the front panel audio connector on the motherboard about 75% of the way.

The holes are lined up and I aligned the blocked hole with the missing pin.

I tried using some force but not to much because I don't want to break the motherboard.

By answering you are really helping me a lot!

Why do you even bother to connect it? The HD audio slot is so you can connect sound devices on the case [front side] Do you usually do that? If you don't, i say don't bother. You should however check to see if there's anything stopping it, maybe there's some dirt or other stuff inside the connector.

THANK YOU!!! I thought that connector was for the system sound. I never plug any sound devices into the front of the case because there is an audio jack on the back of the motherboard. I CAN plug speakers into the one in the back though. Right?

Yes, HD audio socket is only for the case output. It should work fine without it plugged in.
