HP Laserjet 1320nw worked wirelessly on Linksys router. I changed to ASUS RT-AC68U router. The Laserjet works when connected by ethernet cable. I ping it and it comes back with positive replies. I did all setups for wireless. Even removed authentication. also did setup to include specific ip address instead of DHCP. When removing ethernet and rebooting printer I can no longer see printer on network. Ping comes back with Destination host unreachable.
My other 2 wireless newer Canon printers do work wireless.
Not sure what to try next. I have tried alot of changes, but maybe not the right combination of things. Maybe printer is too old tech for newer ASUS router. Maybe go back to Linksys. Maybe use old Linksys E3500 as bridge - printer etherneted to Linksys, Linksys wireless to Asus. Looking for answers.

Solution
the printer is a G-wireless device, is the router set up to support G-wireless?

the printer seems to only support WPA wireless encryption and not WPA2 wireless encryption

Thanks for looking into this.
I believe that is why it was not communicating with the new Asus RT-AC68U router. So encryption was one thing.
In the end I went back to the original set up of using the Linksys E3500, and via ethernet set up the HP Laserjet 1320n to talk to the it as wireless.
(along the way noticed that the Linksys no longer connected to the modem, even after rebooting modem and router.)
Disconnected the ethernet, so now it printed wirelessly.
Then I changed the settings on the Linksys router to be an access point, no DHCP, also as Static with the gateway information from Asus router using ipconfig command (earlier while still connected to Asus).
Then the big leap. Change all cables.
Connect the Asus as primary DHCP router to the modem.
Connect the Linksys cable from its Lan port to Asus Lan port.
Rebooted everything, I think.
Now we all can get the internet and print to the printers, including the HP Laserjet.
Not the most elegant solution, but it works.
Someday when I have more knowledge of Asus settings and the HP Laserjet settings I may again try to connect the HP Laserjet to the Asus router.
Again, thank you for the assist.
