Hi :)

I have recently built a Gaming rig but have a lot of spare parts from old PCs laying around and intend to put them to work on 3 "new" systems:

-htpc (to connect to my 46" sony bravia(full hd-no3d))

* no tv tuner
* max storage 60 gb (maybe ssd)
* no blu-ray
* plan to use OPEN ELEC with XBMC and remote.
* HD videos playback (1080p)
* quite and sleek
* not going to be ON all day, just when needed.

-home server/media server (p2p sharing, storage, print server)

* lot of storage say 2tb is OK
* always on so LOW power consumption
* low noise
* ubuntu server with vnc.
* no monitor for most of the time except during manteinance

-second PC (linux,general tasks,don't know exactly, maybe mom will use it from time to time..SUGGESTIONS PLEASE ) Also will do this awesome case mod... http://www.totalgeekdom.com/?p=683

3 plain-looking cases (2 grey-1 black) but they WILL be modded.

Also have all cables and random stuff like mobo speakers,q connectors, bay covers and screws and a lot more.

My budget for this build go with the quote "LESS IS MORE" so the more I can salvage from this inventory the better ;) but keeping it under 150-170EUR including all extras (remote for htpc, maybe video card(s) and whatever you suggest) is a must.

Please help with these builds :)

First of all, you should sign up with newegg.com and Microcenter.com for sales alerts if you haven't already so you can get the most bang for your buck - there are certain brand names that stay cheap, but you can get higher quality and quantity for about the same price with sales, and refurbished/open box deals are your friend on a budget. I still have a 80Gb Velociraptor (10,000RPM) that I've had for at least 3yrs and still works.

For your file/print server HDD (has a low power feature too) $85 before promo code:
Here is a great deal on the Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=22-236-404

*price in US dollars.
Currently posting from phone, and it doesn't like the motherboard links. I'll have to check later once I'm home. Hard to proceed without details on the mobos. Hope this is a helpful start.
