I'm a first time builder so please bare with me. I have a 4TB WD Black HD and it wasn't being recognized by Win7 Pro. So I went into control panel to "format and allocate" the drive but the drive was split into two parts. One being 2TB, and the rest in a separate bar. I figured if i just allocated one they would join together. That didn't happen. So now 2TB is being read but the rest is not accessible. My OS is seeing the full space of the drive but it won't let me do anything to the rest...what should I do?

Are you trying to use the drive as a boot drive or data drive? There are special requirements to use a disk larger than 2TB as a boot disk -- Microsoft Article. You have to use GPT rather than MBR partitioning. Here is Microsoft's FAQ about GPT disks.

Hey there, Speedhands!

Can you share you system configuration?
There's nothing really wrong with your HDD. Maximum size for MBR is 2.1TB anything above needs to be partitioned into GPT. Your drive can be converted to GPT, but the entire HDD needs to be wiped out before this can be done.
Here are a couple of links that will help you set up your WD Black as a GPT disk:

In order to solve the issue your mobo also has to support UEFI. You can check that out on your motherboard's website.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted if you need further assistance!
