Does a very large and heavy CPU cooler put strain on your motherboard? Enough to make it not last as long as it would otherwise? I'm sorry if this is a silly question. It's just that some of them look (and are) really heavy.

As long as you do not move your PC often, there would be no problem. But if you pickle it around to LANs and that sort of thing, then rather get something lighter.

I have never had that problem and i dont think its very common. I have heard a heavy graphics card can damage a pci slot on a motherboard over time if its not supported by a bracket or something but i am yet to hear anybody say that there heavy cpu cooler damaged there motherboard.
