CPU fan runs so high while gaming, although I have a GPU; not the normal

Hello,

First of all, I don't know which is the right forum for this. But decided to go for CPUs...

I have something weird happening really:

I have Intel i3 2100, Sapphire HD 6850 and Samsung SyncMaster B2030 (connected via DVI). Yesterday (and a couple of months ago) I connected my PC case to my TV (LG HDTV, LED) through HDMI. First it wouldn't display at times and would have to restart so thought it maybe a driver issue or something with the TV; but eventually it displayed so didn't bother...

The weird issue is when I was gaming while connecting the TV (and when I disconnected and got it back on my desk to the monitor like before) the CPU runs so fast, as if I don't have a GPU that is doing the graphics work. It's really weird because it happened the two times I connected it to the TV. I think maybe (if sounds reasonable) the CPU got into the graphics thing and doing some work that's not supposed to do.

So, how do I tackle this?

Solution
If your CPU fan is running fast then your CPU temperature must be getting pretty high. You need to replace the thermal paste, and clean any dust out of your system.
