Basically i have had my card for 1.5 years.
At first the card was fine but after a while i started seeing my screen cut out for micro seconds.
This started to occur when i started running a second display through my Amp/receiver for my TV
Finally my card randomly just failed and went made my monitor go black after switching to home theatre mode.
QUESTION: Is it bad to switch between monitors too often, like 2-3 times per day to watch tv on the big screen and to play games.
Does warranty cover this sort of this?

can you post full PC specs , Switching monitors shouldn't do such a thing and in case its done then you should get a new one via RMA so you needn't worry.Intel i7-2600K, 8gb Ram, Radeon 7970, asus xonar essence stx sound card, Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 Mobo.
Everytime i switched my screen would go black then on black then on black then on, im not sure if it was trying to adjust for the resolution of the amp, then reso for the tv.
Also this issue with my GPU blacking out has happened before but with my previous setup where i just connected my HDMI through the GPU to the AMP and then to my monitor with the other cable for got what its called the digital video output on. So that failed and had to use my mobo output to connect with my home theatre system.
I thought it would workout with the latter setup but apparently not.
Thanks for the help
Can you still get warranty if i lost the receipt of purchase? (i can probably find mine)

trying to figure out what igpu is gna load into bios integrated display or integrated graphics processing unit.
My GPU now works with IGPU at the same time, but still the GPU isnt outputting anything
Is it werid that my monitor is black when the GPU is plugged in?
Is there any physical mechanism that controls shifting between GPU and IGPU? or GPUs HDMI/DVI-D? because i hear a clicking when i change stuff

No , If you plug the HDMI to the mobo then that's the Igpu if you plug it to the card then that's the main GPUAnd yes its weird that your monitor is black , I suspect the GPU is dead but can't confirm.
Do you have any other gpu to try ?
Hmm i dont have another GPU
yeah its probably dead. Whats RMA?
My spouse said she'd buy me a new GPU for xmas should i wait for a better card by then or just get the gtx980?
Thanks ill rate ur answer

RMA is to return the card to the manufacturer for a replacement , I think the 980 will be a good choice especially with your good CPU and PSU.
Thanks for rating my answer however I still want to make sure the card is dead , One last hope is to try plug different power cords to the card , your psu should have alternate 2x6+2 pin connections , maybe a clean installation of the drivers after uninstalling the older ones.
Uninstallation here : http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-unin...
New Drivers here : http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Window...
Hopefully it'll work !!

zi had the same problem too but it turned out to be a faulty dvi cable. it started off as the screen going black randomly and mostly when playing games then blue dots started to appear and blue lines. The black screen would start to last longer and i'd sometimes get no image at all. I'm cheap so i doused the pins of my dvi cable in vinegar and it works fine now haha. Just dont assume its the gpu it could just be something cheap.

Bios is one of the most sensitive components on a board, could have been a spike through the hdmi through your receiuver or something. What you can do, is download the latest bios from your gpu manufacturers website, and try reflash the other bios. You will need to set up a bootable usb (or floppy disk if your old school) with atiflash tool on it. Once booted to dos prompt switch the bios switch back to the other bios and flash the broken bios. It may be able to be recovered. If not you will have to limp along on the backup bios till you can get a new card.
There are a few guides around showing how to do this.

I have done this to flash my 7970 to the newer ghz7970 increased clock speeds and vcore. I recommend you just use the stock bios first to see if you can get it going.
