8pin EATX12V on motherboard, 8pin on PSU, 4pin extension, advice?

Building a tower with the following parts:

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-P
CPU: Intel i5
CPU cooler: Nexus LOW 7000 R2
PSU: Nexus RX-6500

The Nexus cooler is low profile and overhangs the motherboard somewhat, blocking the CPU power connector. To remedy this, they supply a 4" extension cable.

Here's the problem:

The EATX12V connector on the motherboard is 8 pins.
The extension cable is only 4 pins.
The connector on the PSU is two 4 pin blocks, one labeled "4+" and the other labeled "4P".

I'm unsure how to fit all this together.

Option 1: buy an 8pin extension cable from NewEgg for $3, but I'm not sure if that's necessary.

Option 2: Use the 4pin extension cable. It's keyed and only fits on the EATX12V connector on the motherboard one way. But I don't know which 4pin block on the PSU to connect it to (4+ or 4P?).

For an i5 on a current motherboard, using integrated GFX, do I need to use all 8 pins?

I've emailed Nexus to see what they say. Can anyone else weigh in?

Well THAT'S pretty straightforward! Thanks. I was concerned that there might be some configs (i.e., certain newness of CPU, or use of integrated GFX as opposed to a discreet card) where the 8 pins would be necessary.

Only remaining question is which of the PSU's 4pin blocks I use to connect to the extension cable, or does it not matter? One is labeled 4+, the other is labeled 4P.

Ah - I got it. It's the 4P plug - the plug that WOULD have fit into the indicated position in your diagram if I had NOT been using the extension. Many thanks!
