I have a question regarding GPU Potential and the resolution mode..

If i use the resolution 1024x768 which is the only resolution i can use, i can get ridiculous frame rates on nearly every game i play, be it battlefield or the cod range of games.. using ultra settings.. its so effortless.. is my GPU using its full potential or if i use a higher resolution will it kick in and use its full potential..

Solution
A higher resolution will tax the GPU more. Most GPUs have an 'optimal' resolution that they run most games particularly well at. However, that 'optimal' resolution depends on the combination of GPU and game.

If you increase your resolution to, say 864x1152 you should notice almost no framerate loss (perhaps 5-10 FPS less, which should be a very small percentage of the FPS you're seeing). This is because your GPU is barely trying at those comparatively low resolutions.

Usually 1920x1080 (also known as '1080p' - which is a 'widescreen' 16:9 resolution) is a good standard resolution to test a Graphics Card. That's because most games, particularly console games, and most Monitors are calibrated, designed and coded to work at that...
