fresh install only found 11 important updates through Windows updater. odd?

Did a format and fresh install of 7 ultimate last night. Once I got to the point where I was ready to get Windows up to date and stuff Windows updater said there were only 11 important updates and not very many optional updates. I've had Windows 7 for a long time and done tons of updates over the years. How can a fresh install only need 11 updates? There's also a small handful that I hid on my last install because I didn't want them and none of those are in the list of updates I have now. Will more keep popping up as I install? I figured they would all come at once and I could do a fat download while I'm at work or something.

They'll come alright.
If yours is an older install disc (like mine) and lacks SP1 you're in for a nasty surprise when windows finally catches up and dumps over 180 updates on you at once.
And check the 'show hidden icons' arrow, Windows may be downloading without telling you.

^If your disc comes with SP1 with the latest build, then you will not have too many.
Otherwise, after installing the first batch of Windows Updates and a restart, you will see a lot more.
