I have a PC with Gigabyte G41MT-D3V motherboard. I'm looking to buy SSD. My local computer store has 120 GB Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3 on sale this week and I'd like to know if they're compatible (I don't even know if that's an issue).

If it's not compatible can you recommend another SSD? I don't need over hundred gigs of storage, but IO speed is a priority for me.

Thanks in advance

Since you only have SATA II on your motherboard, your speeds will be slower no matter what compared to a SATA III enabled motherboard. The difference may or may not be noticeable, however.

But to answer the question, yes that SSD is compatible with your motherboard.

Virtually all modern ssd's have a sata interface, just like a hard drive.
I see no issue here.
You will greatly enjoy a ssd.

Thanks, guys. Now I'm not sure if I should buy one with more storage and lower speeds...

All current generation SSDs are SATA III so you're going to be sacrificing some speed anyway. As for more storage, you can go high depending on what you want to spend.
