This is my first time posting and I'm not sure that I'm in the right place but I really need some advice. It has been shutting off randomly when I let it go idle. LAtley it hasn't wanted to turn on. I originally thought it was the power strip so I replaced it and it came back on. Well it did this several other times and it would initially work with the new strip but then stop. I now have it plugged directly into the wall and it has happened again. I read somewhere that I could try changing the black cord on the computer that gives it power. I switched it with the one hooked up to my monitor and it worked for a few days. The internet was down last night and I unplugged everything from the wall and now it will not turn on again. I have checked everything and it is plugged in and on. There is even a green light on the back of the modem that is lit up but it refuses to boot. Any help is greatly appreciated!

When my internet stops working I have found that the only way to get it to work again is to shut down my computer and then unplug the power strip from the wall, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in again and restart my computer. So I did that like normal, but now my computer won't power on.
