8GB RAM. Only 4GB Usable...

The image above pretty much gives you all the details you need. As you can see I have 64bit Windows 8 pro, so the problem doesn't reside there. I haven't done really anything to try and fix the problem except for checking msconfig, which was not limiting my RAM either. My motherboard supports 16GB if RAM so that isn't the problem either. Any ideas/solutions?

Have you tried running Memtest? Maybe the RAM is bad

If you are using 2 sticks of ram try 1 at a time. Also rum memory diags like memtest.

It shouldnt be a bad stick, because windows can see it, if you feel comfortable with this, id boot to linux and see, or look in your bios first to make sure. Or you could take 4gb out and see if it works, if it does, put the other 4 in and take the 4 that was just in out

Actually I have seen many times where a bad stick causes this issue. The bios will flag it and the OS won't use it but it will still see it.

I think I will try to run each stick individually as i'm nearly positive both sticks work fine. Thanks all will report back with results by tomorrow or next day.
