I'm trying to make my gaming build last as long as possible. I'll be overclocking all of the overclockable components eventually, especially the graphics card, as the 970 scales well with higher clocks. I won't be building it for quite a while yet, mainly because I don't have the money, but also because DDR4 isn't that great yet. Also, I was wondering if the 5820k @ 4.0ghz is better than the 4790k for gaming. I'm hoping it would be more future proof as games will likely move on to six cores at some point. I don't plan on upgrading for 3+ years, and I'm hoping for 60fps+ on high settings or medium in that time.
So if I was to OC the 970 to, say 1.3/1.4ghz, the RAM to 2800 (the 2800 stock ram is very expensive and this was the cheapest I could find, even if it is 4x4 rather than 2x8, the mobo supports 8 RAM slots and up to 64gb, so that's not a problem).

Case Fan: Akasa AK-FN063 110.6 CFM 140mm Fan ($18.99 @ Amazon)
Fan Controller: Aerocool F6XT Fan Controller ($19.99 @ Mwave)
Other: SM-352BEA ($25.92)
Total: $1977.18
Bearing in mind these aren't the exact prices, just an estimate from pcpartpicker. I will be SLIing by the time my GPU is outdated, unless a really amazing single GPU card comes out.

TL;DR, how long will this last? I want to get 60fps+ on high settings in games. I will be OCing.

I think you'll easily get 4 years out of that build at a minimum.

Well, the 970 OC'ed comes very close to the 980. It's more bang for buck, and since graphics get outdated a lot more quickly than CPUs I figured I'd go for the value.
Could you give an estimate of how many years? I know you (probably) don't have a crystal ball, but would it be 4 or more?
